Ellen Degeneres delivered the commencement speech at Tulane University in New Orleans a few days ago, and I found it to be one of the best I’ve ever seen or heard. Aside from her usual smart and silly humor, she spoke poignantly about being true to oneself, whatever the cost may be. I highly recommend taking a few minutes of your time and listening to her words of advice.

Vogue writer Jonathan Van Meter, wrote a great piece about the current United States Ambassador to the UN. Susan Rice might share the same last name as the former Secretary of State Condoleezza, but they are a far cry different from one another. Van Meeter’s in depth article proves that Vogue is more than just fashion.

New Buffalo hails from Australia and while she is just now making a name for herself as a solo artist, she has been a lyricist in the music business for years. She penned Fiest’s breakout hit “1,2,3,4”. This song “Cheer Me Up Thank You” was the first single from her debut album, Somewhere Anywhere. It’s not quite as catchy as “1,2,3,4”, but her lyrics paint a picture of summer days spent in parks and hills of wild flowers, a musical take on Wordsworth, if you will.

Growing older may have its down falls, but one of the positives is having the life experience to bring new meaning to words you’ve heard a million times…
You could be my silver springs
Blue green colors flashin’
I would be your only dream
Your shining autumn, ocean crashing
Time casts a spell on you, but you won’t forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me

This video is by an artist named Keith Luitit. It was crated using a time lapse technique, and yes, its real. The musical artist is Megan Washington and the song is called “Clementine”. If you enjoy it I highly recommend some of his other shorts as well. A nice little distraction from work…

The gay community knows how to party better than any other, of course they’d throw one hell of a wedding bash. Support Gay Marriage and reap those revenues!

I HATE eye make-up remover. I feel like its more of a nuisance than anything else and usually leaves your eye with a greasy film layer on your lid. I’ve tried many different brands because it is better for your lashes than your soap or foam facial cleanser, but I could never find the right one…until I tried Kiehls. The Supremely Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover is many things in one. First it actually gets your eye make-up off, (many say they do and simply don’t) second its light weight, non-greasy formula doesn’t leave any undesirable consistency on your face after you wash, and the best part IT MAKES YOUR LASHES STRONGER! I’ve been using the product for well over a year now, and I will swear by this, my lashes actually feel stronger and look more full. It is also safe for contact lens wearers and animal friendly (yay!). At $16.50 a bottle (which will last about 6 months) there really isn’t any reason you shouldn’t have this product in your routine.

Oh the Places You’ll Go…
Travel season is upon us and if your lucky enough you’ll need to be carrying your passport along. If you’re traveling to another country you may as well do it in style. Most luxury retailers carry passport covers, but they can be quite pricey, and I know you’d rather save for a splurge on the trip itself! Luckily Aspinal of London carries a variety of passport covers for men and women, which are both chic and affordable! It’s the perfect gift for yourself, or a friend who is traveling abroad.
Bon Voyage!

Long before Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was the First Lady of France, she was a high fashion model and songstress. While her english language albums failed to catch on, her french albums were both critically and commercially successful. Her charming voice, sincere and honest lyrics, combined with her rather clumsy guitar skills make for the perfect blend of french folk, and jazz. Her album Quelqu’un m’a dit is precisely what one needs on a warm summer evening-cool, and sexy, like vintage lingerie.
